Inspired in part by the Greek myth of Narcissus about a man who turned to stone whilst gazing at his own reflection, and partially by Dali's painting, Metamorphosis of Narcissus, Floortals translates the story thru a minimalist lens. Incorporating the viewer's reflection lends a surreal perspective to the series. Additionally, it references the Mirror Test which examines self-awareness. The mirrors invite the viewer to look inside and the viewer must choose the direction, inward or outward, becoming an active part of the work. It is in venturing to deeper levels that we discover truths of ourselves as well as of others.
The deeper we go, the more we come to know.
